What It Was Like to Work with My Favorite Rapper

Rap has become an integral part of the Washington, DC music scene. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting, if you don't know 202 General, do you even know what hip hop is in Washington, DC? Collaborating can open doors to new opportunities and help you grow as an artist. But working with someone you've admired for years is a life-changing experience that inspires you to become a better rapper. He is a living legend, the Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant of DC rap. His rapping skills are unparalleled.

Working with 202 General

For me working with 202 General is like teaming up with your favorite superhero. When I struggle behind the mic to come up with the following line, he can jump in, spit a few bars, and hand it back to me, and then we're off to the races. It's always fascinating to see how other artists work when they record, but watching your all-time favorite artist in action is an entirely different experience.

Learning from the Legend

202 General shared behind-the-scenes stories about the music industry, revealing dirty tricks and how to handle business correctly. One story that stood out was when a label invited him to perform in a competition. After the event, they claimed his people were too rowdy and disqualified him, even though he came alone and turned up the crowd like a rapper should.

Impact on My Music

Collaborating with local artists like 202 General has improved my music and expanded my audience. His massive discography which includes so many deep and meaningful songs inspires me to make music with a positive message and keep on recording. The experience has been invaluable, and the lessons learned are irreplaceable.
